Some deals are so good that they get scooped up before you get to the store. What do you do when the item you want to buy is not at the store? Ask for a raincheck, this allows you to come back to the store and get the item when it is back in stock at the same sale price. The best thing about CVS rainchecks is that they NEVER expire. MARI: That's great but what about deals that have ExtraBucks (ECB) too, will I lose out on those? VEE: Absolutely not, if the sale item includes Extrabucks you earn those too. The raincheck slip you receive has all the pertinent information your cashier will need to adjust the price of the item to the sale price and any ECBs to give you. Remember to get your ECBs as these have to be done manually by your cashier after your transaction is done. This allows you to not lose out on any portion of the promotion. MARI: Thanks for telling me, I just got a raincheck and I'll make sure I let the cashier know when I cash in. VEE: You might even be able to score a better deal in the future by combining the raincheck with new coupons that come out. You can even use your raincheck item to help get your spending up to a certain dollar amount needed for a CVS coupon. For example, there's a $5 off $20 purchase, you can use the items purchased with the raincheck to reach your $20 goal. This is just another reason why I love CVS. I have learned over the years to be keep an eye out for better deals on your rainchecks than what you originally planned. Check out the FAQs section of the CVS site for more details on rainchecks by clicking here or post your question below.

VEE: Learning to read the CVS weekly ad for a newbie can be confusing. I am going to explain how to do so and how to get the most bang for your buck. Spot the ExtraBucks (ECB) deals and see how they are marked so you learn to find them easily. At times there is fine print under a sale item including more items offered than what is pictured and any limit details. Always read the fine print. The image above shows an ECB deal. It breaks down all the info you need to make a transaction. It includes the sale price, it tells you if there are any coupons in the Sunday coupon inserts, ECB amount plus offer limits and final price. This ECB offer has an offer limit of 1, meaning you can buy more than one but you will only receive ExtraBucks for one. The image above shows what an ECB looks like. Your CVS mom money has an expiration date of 30 days. If you don't use it during that time you lose it. This is where rolling your ECBs week after week comes into play. You always use them and keep the rotation going so you don't lose them. The image above is a CVS store coupon. They also have expiration dates of anywhere between 10-14 days. Using these together with a sale, a manufacturer coupon and an item earning ECB's is how you maximize your savings and your out of pocket spending.
While in the store always look for coupons. You will be amazed at all the places you can spot them. The pharmacy area has some sporadically throughout the year. Tear Pads are found on displays or on the shelf near the product. You literally tear the coupon away from the pad it is on. Peelies are a coupon glued to the item that can be peeled off when purchased. Blinkies are those little machines with blinking lights that are on shelves near products. They continue to pop out coupons after you take one. These machines are changed out every couple of months with new coupons. Lastly coupon pulls are small boxes that hold coupons you can pull out. Keep an eye out for these coupons and keep adding up your savings. VEE:
Picture this, you have a $10 ExtraBuck that's about to expire today and you need to use it up but your purchase is only $8.99. What do you do, lose out on $1.01 in free money? No way, you purchase a filler item and take advantage of every penny! ECBs must be used for the amount printed on them or the remaining balance is lost. This is why a filler item is your best option to "fill" the remainder of that ECB allowing you to get the most bang for your buck. MARI: What types of items can be used as filler items? VEE: The easiest and quickest filler items are the candy and gum right in front of the registers. You are not limited to only these items. CVS carries lots of things for under $1 that can make great fillers for your purchases. Look in the travel section, clearance items, pocket tissues, single toilet paper rolls, food aisle has lots of low cost snacks, birthday candles, even 99¢ cards can be an option. I tend to get a candy bar and give it to my fave cashier. Get familiar with inexpensive items at CVS that you can use. MARI: Great tip, next time i'm in need of a filler item, I'll be ready! SISters, do you have a fave filler item? Share it with the fam, post your comments below. VEE:
The CVS Beauty Club is a great way to earn more ExtraBucks (ECBs). For every $50 in qualifying purchases you earn a $5 ECB. Trust me it adds up fast and you can earn an unlimited amount of free money. MARI: What qualifies as a Beauty Club purchase? VEE: Qualifying Beauty Club purchases include items from Cosmetics, hair care, fragrances, hair accessories, hair appliances, hair color, hosiery, and skin care. MARI: Are there any exclusions? VEE: Excluded items include trial & travel sizes, gift cards and prescriptions. Some items known to be excluded include razors, shaving cream, deodorant, some men’s body wash, and sunscreen. MARI: How do you receive the rewards? VEE: Your rewards print out on your receipt or when you scan your CVS card at the ExtraCare Coupon Center machine in the store. Your receipt helps you keep track of how much you have purchased towards your $50 as well as what is needed to earn your next reward. MARI: Are there any other perks? VEE: You get a 10% shopping pass once you sign up as well as a $3 ECB on your birthday. Periodically they will mail you coupons and info on new products too. Make sure to take advantage of the CVS Beauty Club by filling out the form and linking your CVS ExtraCare Card. Sign up here and start earning now! VEE:
